This is the beginning of the US Masters swim at Deer Creek August 17th.

James was signed up to swim the 10 mile prtion of the race and Tori and I along with our friend Cameron were backing James up in Kayaks. The day was a little over cast at the start of the race.

This picture makes me laugh. Cameron may look dry but he's not. Tori had offered him some Red Vines (Cameron loves licorice.....or did.) He turned to look at her and rolled his kayak. I had never seen anyone do that before It looked awsome. I thought he was just trying to impress the girls but he assured me it was not intentional!

This is Tori and I when we still felt like smiling. That did not last long.

James said the water temp was ok and he seamed very comfortable despite the heavy wind and choppy water.

Finally Mother nature had enough of the whole thing and came unglued on us. We had thunder, and lightning. More wind and torential downpoor. Did I mention it was 45 degrees? Tori and I turned around and headed for the starting dock (4 Miles away) the Kayak started filling up with water. Boats pulled the swimmers out of the water. James was pulled out at the five mile marker. Cameron decided it would be safer if he headed to the nearest shore and waited for James to pick him up in the truck.

All the swimmers were out of the water in about 20 minutes. Tori and I were frozen she was shaking so bad she could hardly walk.

This is how we found Cameron. No matter how bad it gets he's good for a laugh.
